Jiyeon Song

One Day Poem Pavilion

Master of Design candidate, Jiyeon Song, has created this amazing interactive pavilion out little more than perforated panels. The specific arrangements of the perforations reveal different shadow-poems according to the solar calendar: a theme of new-life during the summer solstice, a reflection on the passing of time at the period of the winter solstice.

Matthew Woodson

Matthew Woodson was born and raised in rural southern Indiana. He graduated from The School of The Art Institute of Chicago in early 2006. He still lives in Chicago in an apartment full of hardwood floors and taxidermy, with an unapologetically vocal cat and a dog that is skinnier than the grain

Designers

Designer: Jeffrey Wollenzien

The Karma Chair is a stylish piece of furniture designed for comfort and simplicity. It’s ergonomically shaped for lounging but the real story is the construction. Made from 2 identically shaped pieces of layered and formed bamboo veneer. They’re individually finished with opposing mating details so they slide-lock together with simple hardware. Flat pack shipping means this thing is destined for IKEA which in turns means it has a 100% chance ending up in my living room. DO WANT!

Designer: Matteo Gentile

There are certain gadgets that are simply too cool not to do something dangerous with. Case in point, “Skate” from Matteo Gentile adds an electric motor to a stripped down hybrid of a skateboard and snowboard bindings, creating something altogether different, dangerous and cool. Ostensibly created for regular transport and short commutes, I think we all know what was going through Matteo’s mind when he sketched this bad boy out.

I think this is the best thing I've found on ARTstor so far. I would definitely enjoy trying to make a painting like that.
